First time I have ever written to an “Advice Column” and I gotta say it makes me
nervous. I am not one of those litter-ary dogs. I am a mutt and proud of it. Most of the
dogs on my block would say that I am kinda tough. My hero is the Tramp – like in Lady
and the Tramp. It was him who said, “a short life but a merry one”, though I think some
pirate said it first.
So here’s my problem. The thing is that what I really like best is to curl up with the big
boy I live with and share his soft blankey. But that is really embarrassing for a dog like
me. So, when the kid was sleeping, I took his blankey and buried it in the backyard.
Now we both feel pretty bad. If I bring it back the kid will know I took it and be mad at
me and I hate that.

Dear Tramp,

First of all, sharing a blanket with the boy is a way in which the two of you take care of
each other. And it is a great way to build your friendship. It is a way of being litter mates.
I promise you that if you dig up the blankey ( and maybe shake it a little to knock of the
dirt) and bring it to the boy and put down in front of him, he will give you a great big hug.
Remember that tough guys like to cuddle too.
